Google Earth Tours

Google earth experts: Sarah Barnum, Jack, Peggy McKee (the great exchange)

Top area Search area
Bottom area Layers- like ascetate

Google constantly adds new features in Layers
Click Primary Database (top of Layers) turns off all layers

Turn on…
Street View
3D buildings (only active for major cities) – as opposed to satellite view from above

Note- arrows next to layer options shows hidden options

Global Awareness layers- show hotspots etc. eg. Darfor layer

Places box is where the guided tours resides
(uses programming language called KML-Keynote Mark-up Language) vs (HTML hypertext markup language)

Google Earth Menu→ preferences→ touring tab ((always have show balloon when tour is paused) Tour Pause allows you to change time of each stop along tour

Guided language tour
Within paris, type in café into fly to window. Click on red eye drops and café name and website will pop up
NOTE: control click to delete visited sites in Places in google earth
Click on Saturn Icon to see google sky from wherever you last were (eg. Paris, France, or Palo Alto, CA etc)

Finding Premade tours…
Earth.google.com → Gallery
Google→ Advanced Search→ File type (powerpoint) or KML file or KMZ file (zipped)
Results are not openable in google so, Control Click on links and save link as to download file
